When PJ grew up in a religious family in southwestern Kentucky tobacco country, her parents instilled into her a desire to "do good,” and represent widows, orphans and the oppressed. She went to law school because she wanted to help others. PJ knows that regular people have little power when facing hospitals, doctors and their insurance companies. She wants to help level the playing field.
A lot of people think being a lawyer is about making money. But PJ believes in sharing what we have. She is really grateful for what she has and the people she has been privileged to represent. PJ tries to help out in the community and pay it forward. In addition to pro bono work, one thing PJ's family does every week is prepare and take meals for the homeless in Center City Park.
The older she gets, the more PJ thinks of her life's work as easing suffering where she finds it. PJ represents families who have lost a child or a dad or a sister or a mom. We hope that the work that we do in some way eases families' suffering.
